During the auditing phase of Structural Integration training Peter Melchior said that we would come across clients who, after 10 sessions of our best work, look as if we never touched them.
Why is that?
I came home from the auditing phase and my family was gathered for Thanksgiving 2004. I had not seen them for months and my nine-year-old niece wanted to catch up on some play. Ping-Pong is our usual favorite but at nine she was disappointed if she missed the ball and in 10 minutes she was angry. We switched to the game of “restaurant.” My niece was the owner and server but this too provided no change in her frustration. She screamed instead of spoke, she slammed cups down on the table instead of placing them there, and her limbs were everywhere. This was not the fun we were looking for. Giving up games, I thought to swaddle her. There is a large afghan that rests on the back of the couch and I opened it up onto the floor.......
