For years people have been trying to help and strengthen our environment that we all live in. Unfortunately, our attempts have not been successful; it has actually been a total failure. In Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth, Gore talks about how we are ruining our environment and that these habits are not sustainable for much longer. Winona LaDuke, an environmentalist, activist and writer parallels Gore’s thoughts and beliefs in her speech, “Voices from White Earth.”
LaDuke identifies herself with a group that calls themselves, “Anishinabeg” (435). They are considered as indigenous people. The term indigenous describes their people as, “Any ethnic group who inhabit the geographic region with which they have the earliest historical connection” (Wikipedia.com).
