A missile accidentally fired from a nearby plane struck the fuel tanks on the future presidential candidate John McCain’s plane and created a deadly inferno aboard the ship. Senator McCain barely escaped the fiery disaster that killed 134 men, injured hundreds more and destroyed twenty planes. Instead of taking the option to return home after the Forrestal disaster, Senator McCain volunteered for more combat duty - a fateful decision that stopped the clock on his life and separated him from his family, and country, for five and a half years.
Senator John McCain in 1999 said he did not support a repeal of Roe v. Wade. In 2007, McCain voted to adopt an amendment that prohibits funds being granted to organizations that perform abortions when a woman's life is not in danger, unless the organization is a hospital. Recently, he abandoned goals to change his party's platform on abortion to allow exceptions based on rape, incest and the life of the mother. John McCain states that......
