It was believed that women in the afterlife will be youthful and their beauty would be restored, and will remain ageless for eternity. Thus the reason that woman of ancient Egypt kept up with their presence, and always looked youthful and beautiful. They kept their hair short, in some cases bald and those wealthier wore wigs. Henna in todays society is used as a “temporary tattoo;” but back then henna was used to dye hair, nails, and their bodies. Makeup was worn and not looked at as a luxury but as a necessity, and used in everyday life. For both genders shaving was a must for the wealthy people. Families in the higher ranking had female attendants to assist the wife with maintaining her grooming.
Women in ancient Egypt were respected and had equal rights as of the men, they also had equal rights in the court system and could assist as a witness, plaintiff, or a defendant. If convicted of a crime they would seek the same punishment as the men. Although they were banned from......
