The International Arms Trade- The dichotomy within

To the common man sitting home and watching television, the international arms trade represents a distant reality. It represents a reality that does not affect him, can be ignored and pushed under the carpet. The common man’s closest contact to perhaps the more pervasive form of commodity exchange in the planet is restricted to dramatised movies and war games. To the 60,000 child soldiers in Myanmar who are forced to fight without reason, it means something else. The purpose of my essay is this-It is to trace the social political and economic implications that the arms trade has on its affected parties and the world in general. It is to trace the beginning of this so called “Industry” and to actually discern its repercussions on the world at large. It is to see if and how, one man’s meat slowly becomes another’s poison.

There is no way one can pinpoint a particular date and claim that the International Arms Trade......
