There are several different definitions and interpretations of what exactly a society is. Wikipedia.com states that a society is a grouping of individuals which is characterized by common interests and may have distinctive culture and institutions. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular people, such as the Saxons, a nation state, such as Bhutan, or a broader cultural group, such as a Western society.

NZ society is differentiates itself from the rest of the world through its various characteristics. It would be fair to say that New Zealand society is hard working- we have the second lowest unemployment rate in the developed world, 3.4%, second only to South Korea. We are a multicultural society with many different religions, beliefs and culture groups operating including mosques and Chinese speaking churches.
