Many nations around the world have been colonized or ruled by other dominant countries in the past. Sometimes these rules or colonizations have been beneficial toward the society in question but sometimes they have been disadvantageous for the society. India was colonized by the British in 1857. The British arrived at India with good intentions of supporting India in order to make it a more stable place. These intentions, however, were surpassed by the British intentions to promote themselves. Their main priority morphed from trying to help the Indians to helping themselves. Because of this, India suffered harsh treatment from the British. The British colonization of India was detrimental towards India because Indians did not have a say in the government and India’s economy was damaged.
One effect of British rule was that the Indians did not have much of a say in their own government. This was harmful for the Indians because the British had the freedom to instigate laws......
