Struggle has definitely been the theme of my Classic Upward Bound experience. Although, there were pleasant times there were many upsetting days that balanced or, at times, seem to tip the scale. From the first day of training until the celebration of our scholars’ achievements, I can honestly say that joy did not rest behind my daily smiles. However, through my frustration with my job, I felt that I have accomplished the ultimate task as a mentor—inspire, encourage, strike fires in the minds of intelligent, respectful college-bound students.
