The reality of constant use of the internet is that it does interrupt social interaction, and is now cutting into family TV viewing. Viewing television as a family is a pastime that can bring families together through entertainment that appeals to all. Our society needs to develop stronger bonds with family and community, yet powerful technologies are distracting children and adults from each other. Watching television as a family can create dialog, whereas internet use is an individual sport leaving us disconnected from our environment and family members.
