In the start of the 20th century, series of events occurred within modern Europe that created a whole new era of animosity, tension and nationalism. Certain events were more significant than others in terms of its impact on the history of Europe. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the most significant documents of its time, for it created a tension between two countries that elevated into a world war, and nationalism within a future world power. World War II was another significant event which consisted of consecutive battles between the Allies and Axis powers that resulted in the defeat of a totalitarian regime. After World War II, the Berlin Blockade occurred when the Soviets decided to blockade all of Berlin in order to force the Allies out of their communist half.
