I found Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe to be the classical hero story. Everyone needs someone to look up to or a leader to show others like him how things should be done. Tom stood for freedom to the other slaves and Uncle Tom’s cabin was a sign of why Tom died. Sadly wrongful acts have to be severely fought, sometimes to death before someone notices that things are out of control and completely wrong. Tom was the person in the story who stood up for everyone else and took a beating for things to change.
Since we were younger we’ve always read about slavery and how it was a bad time in our country. Reading these chapters from Uncle Tom’s Cabin I was given vicious details to the treatment of slaves and the emotions that many of the slaves were going through at the time. It was good to have a African American woman’s point of view of slavery. This gave a first hand experience to show reality while also displaying a woman’s natural emotional take on things.......
