Elvis Aaron Presley, born January 8th, 1935 in a small town called Tupelo, Mississippi. His mother and father, Gladys and Vernon, raised Elvis in a small one story house on the not so wealthy side of town.(Elvis 56) Nesta Robert Marley, also known as Bob Marley, was born February 6th, 1945 in the small village of Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. His mother Cedella raised Bob in a small one story shack due to the fact his father Norval just paid to support Bob but was never really around.(Fineworth) Although Marley and Elvis were of different ethnicities they were pioneers that shared the same vision.
Elvis always had a niche to sing, and at the age of 18 his whole life changed. Elvis was working as a truck driver when he first knew he was going to be a star.
