The story Falling Leaves is a memoir of an unwanted child. A long time ago china was dominated by the big 3, England America and France. Miss Ren and Adeline‘s father got married. The y gave birth to a girl and three boys before Adeline. The daughter’s name was Jun-pei and the three sons were Zi-jie, Zi-lin, and Zi-jun. when Miss Ren gave birth to her last child she was not in luck. After the birth of Jun-ling (Adeline) she is diagnosed with puerperal fever and dies a few short days afterwards. After Miss Rens death Adeline’s father remarried a French woman named Jeanne Prosperi. After marriage Jeanne took all of the Chinese names of the children and renamed them with American names. Jun-pei, the oldest, was named Lydia. The three brothers Zi-jie, Zi-lin, and Zi-jun were renamed Gregory, Edgar, and James. Jun-ling, the youngest daughter, was renamed Adeline.
