The credit crisis that many global corporations are experiencing today stems from the desire by the government to help deliver the “American Dream”. Home ownership has long been considered a staple of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”. The credit crisis runs parallel to the mortgage crisis, and is in fact a direct result of the housing bubble that began to burst in 2006. In order to understand how the mortgage crisis turned into a credit crisis one needs to understand more about how the housing bubble was formed, and how it has so strongly affected the state of the economy today.
The distribution of wealth between the rich and the poor has swollen in the past ten years. The wealthy have had an excess of dollars and the securitization of the mortgage market had provided a very profitable place to put those dollars. Encouraging home ownership by relaxing lending regulations and credit requirements made the market for mortgages grow tremendously. The term home......
