Caipirinha (ka-pur-een-ya) is a traditional Brazilian drink. The original one was prepared with typical Brazilian liquor, named cachaça and mixed with lime. However you can also use other fruits and liquors. It’s easy to prepare and tastes wonderful. No one knows for certain who created the Caipirinha. Stories say that Caipirinha was created at the same time of cachaça. Either way, people usually think that cachaça was created in Brazil, but some researchers have found scripts proving that the cachaça started to be produced in Portugal between 1491 and 1558. In the XVI century, with the introduction of sugar cane in Brazil, the cachaça arrived in the country. In the beginning cachaça was not mixed with another ingredient.
