Energy costs have skyrocketed over the past year due to a growing demand for oil from China and India. That growing demand has put a strain on the oil supply and has led to higher heating and gasoline prices in the United States. Some people advocate drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to increase the oil supply. Others who oppose this, namely environmental groups, want nature to be left alone. Politicians are searching for other sources of energy to lessen our dependency on oil. Yet nothing proposed so far can compete with the efficiency of oil.
