The fast food industry generates billions of dollars in revenue every year. In last year alone, Canadians spent $15.7 billion dollars at fast-food restaurants. However, as people are becoming increasingly health conscious, the fast-food industry can expect a decrease in demand and profits. Therefore, fast-food restaurants will have to re-evaluate their business plans. Erin Pooley’s “A Recipe for Change” recognizes that the consumers are requesting healthier alternatives, for “times and waistlines have changed” (Pooley, 2007). Pooley suggests advice and incentives through facts and figures. However, the author’s arguments are poorly presented in the introduction, thesis, and conclusion. While the article contains interesting insights, the overall content is unclear and ambiguous.
