Between 1603 and 1707, England experienced a shift in ideas in many different views. “To the extent that English government utilized the new methods of professional administration developed in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, it was potentially as absolute as any divine-right monarchy. But the slow growth of representative government checked this potential, generating a set of rules not to be altered easily by the ordinary processes of government.” Over the 104 years that elapsed during the English Revolution, the kings struggled to keep their power from the craving hands of Parliament. Economically, English finances, local work, and even management of trade fell into the hands of the gentry and the higher nobility. These ruling classes secured foreign exchange and trade without help from the king. Religiously, the shift in ideas came mainly from the popular belief of divine-right diminishing into what became just a simple belief; one which should not be carried out......
