This article discusses the challenges that retailers face in marketing to the millennial consumer group. The millenials, as defined in the article, are the individuals who are between the ages of 12 and 26, with a total US population of 80 million. Representing over $200 billion dollars in annual spending, this group is very important to almost every retailer, however, traditional advertising efforts have yet to capitalize on the customers’ perceived value of the products that are being advertised. In an effort to boost customer loyalty and create more satisfaction, retailers and advertising companies have decided to take a decidedly different approach in marketing to this consumer group.
