Teen Suicide
Suicide is the act of intentionally terminating one's own life. Each year in the United States, thousands of teenagers commit suicide. It continues to be a serious problem every year. There are nearly five thousand teenagers who commit suicide each year according to friendshospitalonline.org. According to aacap.org, suicide is the third leading cause of death for fifteen to twenty-four year-olds, and the sixth leading cause of death for five to fourteen year-olds. Suicide is often a result of depression, result of bullying, and also from stress. For some teens, suicide may appear to be a solution to their problems and stress. “Many of the signs and symptoms of suicidal feelings are similar to those of depression.” (aacap) Lives lost before they are started: how teen suicide has become an epidemic.
