Pros of Abortion in the United States
For the past few decades, abortion has been one of the most controversial and most important issues among physicians, political leaders, and millions of women across the United States. Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. “Since the Roe v. Wade decision by the United States Supreme Court in January, 1973, abortion has been legal in all 50 States during all 9 months of pregnancy“ (http://www.cirtl.org/ablaws.htm). Those who are against the procedure and argue that abortion is killing are known as “pro-life”. Those who believe that the decision to have an abortion should be left up to the mother describe themselves as “pro-choice”. Some people who are a part of the pro- choice movement view abortion as a last resort and focus on different situations where having the procedure is a necessary option.
