The Conflict of Religion in America’s Public Schools
Although the issue of separation of church and state has caused heated debate in our nation, research shows that students benefit academically from the influence of religion in their lives. However, research also supports that it is beneficial for all parties involved- students, teachers, and parents- to keep religious teaching exclusively in the home and out of the public school curriculum. This paper will examine our nation’s historical struggle with this issue, the rights of the students,’ and arguments both for and against teaching religion in public schools.
