Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system. Methamphetamine is commonly known as “speed,” “meth,” and “chalk.” It is a white, odorless, bitter-tasting powder that easily dissolves in water or alcohol. Meth can be snorted, smoked, injected, or orally ingested. Over 11 million Americans 12 and older have tried the drug meth. What makes this number scarier is that 60% are women that are child bearing age. Meth is stronger than crack cocaine, more addictive than heroine, and one of the most powerful man made stimulants. Meth accounts for the highest percentage of Emergency Room drug related incidents and drug related incarcerations.
