Mary White Rowlandson was captured by Native American’s in February 1675 and kept alive as a ransom against Englishmen. In her three month ordeal, aspects of her capabilities were tested as she was forced to witness and experience extremely harsh conditions that at worse were life jeopardizing. She was put through true tests of faith each day as she battled with harsh weather and environmental conditions, desperate hunger, and every abuse imaginable from her captors. As Mrs. Rowlandson found herself in a desperate struggle at self preservation, she physically, mentally and spiritually relies on her deep faith in God to help her survive the harsh capture. God, she feels, ultimately leads her to a homecoming.
In the attack that the Indians made on the Garrison the day of her capture, Mrs. Rowlandson suffered a bullet to the side of her body. In the second day with the Indians, the injury was “growing so stiff”......
