Nashi is a youth group created by Vasily Yakemenko on March 1, 2005 to support Russia’s president Vladimir Putin . This group is sponsored by the Kremilin and includes more than 600,000 members. The translation of Nashi is “ours” and what is said is this group is to “fight for the minds of Russia’s young people”. Nashi was set up mainly as a response to Ukraine’s Orange revolution in 2004, where youth led protests that helped the pro-western candidate win the presidency. Kremlin, the creator of this group, has said the group was set up as a movement to demonstrate against what he interpreted as and increasing come back of communism in Russia.
