The book “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury involves a corrupt society. The protagonist of the book, Montag, found it a pleasure to burn in the beginning that is. By the middle of chapter he begins to read books and question them. At the closing stages, he realizes that books are what help keep people rational. Montag transforms noticeably through out the book.
In this corrupt society, firemen don’t work for good anymore but evil. Montag has been a fireman for 10 years now. “His hands were the hands of some amazing conductor playing all the symphonies of blazing and burning to bring down the tatters and charcoal ruins of history” (3). This demonstrates that he did his job and never has questioned it. He seemed to be okay with his job. Later, Clarrise meets Montag for the first time and illustrates her colorful thoughts. “ I heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed firemen to stop the flames” (8).
