The definitions of overweight and obesity in adults have been various over time, and sometimes from study to study. The Editor of the article believes that the scientific and lay publications should be aware of the consequences and misunderstanding of reporting statistics without providing the criteria used to define overweight and obesity. Some of the diseases that have come up from obesity have been an important public health problem. Health problems have increased such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, gall bladder disease, certain types of cancer, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, and other disorders.
