Anita’s story begins in Nazi-ruled Germany in her row house, located in the Breslau suburb of Zimpel, in 1933 (12 & 14).
Plot Structure
Exposition- Anita Dittman, a five-year old girl aspiring to become a ballerina lives with her family in Nazi-ruled Germany in 1933. But being a Jewish girl at this time period shatters all hopes of that dream becoming a reality for little Anita. Shortly after, her Aryan father abandons her and her family. Her and her family must abandon everything and everyone they love including each other for any chance of survival (11-22)
Inciting Incident/ Initial Conflict- After her Christian father abandons her and her family for political reasons, Anita, her mother, and her sister find friends and family members to stay with for several years (22-90).
