The human papillomavirus or HPV is a group of small DNA viruses that cause warts or certain cancers that affect the skin and mucosa areas of the body. Scientists have fully identified 80+ different genetic types of the virus and have detected another 30. There are 23-30 types that infect the skin of the lower genital tract.
