Christian Lacroix is a French couture and ready-to-wear designer, he was born in 1851 Having studied the history of art with dreams of becoming a museum curator or costume designer, Lacroix succumbed to fashion by chance in the late 1980’sHe began by working as an assistant at Hermes before collaborating with the couturier of the Tokyo Imperial Court, Lacroix then went onto to work at the House of Patou, in 1981 By combining bright colours and extravagant embellishments, Christian Lacroix became an instant hit with the public when he opened his own fashion label in 1986 Having been described ‘as one of the fastest growing brands in the LVMH universe,’ Christian Lacroix currently puts his name to perfume, linens and children’s clothing. He finds inspiration for jewellery and accessories in provincial France and tradition wear from around the world
