Our book is based on a conquistador which means a Spanish explorer! Their names are Lewis and Clark!
In 1800, the land of the Americans West was a great mystery to most Americans. They knew the land beyond the Mississippi river was rich with valuable resources, such as animal furs. The president of the united states-Thomas Jefferson – wondered about reports of an American Indian tribute out west that spoke Welsh.
When it came to the American west, no one really knew what to believe. Spain, France, Great Britain, Russia, and the United States all made claims to various parts of it-and nation of American Indians already lived there.
Most Americans lived in a narrow swath of land along the Atlantic Ocean. Some adventurous settlers had already moved into region that is now Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
President Jefferson wanted to know more about this land and the American Indian who lived on it. He hoped......
