Alex Rider is a fourteen-year-old kid who travels all the time. Life is anything but normal for Alex. He is a spy for M16, which is a secret company with spies and special tech people. Alex gets called on for very dangerous and surprising missions all the time. Alex realizes spying has its ups and downs…and downs…and downs… and downs. He gets to travel a lot but it is never like a vacation because there is always something dangerous around every corner. Sometimes he thinks he will relax but it never seems to turn out that way.
The story begins with Alex lying on his back on the beach after a nice swim in the Mediterranean Sea in the South of France. He was watching the people on the beach when he recognizes one face out of everyone…Yassen Gregorvich, a contract killer who had murdered his uncle. Alex follows Yassen to a restaurant where he finds him talking to France’s favorite singer… Damian Cray. Mr. Cray or should I say Sir Damian......
