I believe that had the Little Seamstress never been exposed to those books, or the movies the boys acted out, she never would have dreamed of betraying her father, and running away from her life on the mountain. Not that this may have been a bad thing, education is wonderful, it allows people to think for themselves and learn from their own mistakes. Apparently Lao’s idea of re-educating the Little Seamstress had backfired on him. The Little Seamstress leaving at the end of the novel is a crushing blow to the boys, but Lao especially because of their secret love affair. Even just as crushing to the Narrator because of what he did for her because of her and Laossecret love affair. They had both rescued her in one way or another and fighting for her love,......
