Every time the American government passes a law that effects all of America there are always people who are against it. If America had a mandatory draft for all Americans over the age of 18 the government would not only have to deal with the problems in Iraq, but also the draft could promote protests, strikes, and even possible violence in America. So rather than having to focus America’s man power in Iraq, the American government will have to send army soldiers back to America to police and control people in order to stop riots.
During the Vietnam War a mandatory draft took place. In this draft were selected criminals, druggies, cowards, and drunks. What good could these people do in the army? A man named Kimbal Ross Binder recalls this, and refers to his experience as an amalgam (chaos). If America has a mandatory draft today the same thing that happened then will happen again.
