Do your findings support the hypothesis that words related to the lists are just as likely to be recognized as actual words from the list?
The results from this experiment very strongly support the hypothesis that people are just as likely to remember related words as the words actually on the lists. In fact my findings show that sometimes people will recognize more words that are similar to the critical word then the actual word. The findings show that test subjects, on average, recalled 58 percent of words related to the lists, while they only recalled 56 percent of words actually on the lists. This is slightly different from what was predicted as usually people will recall the actual words from the list more then they will recall words related to the list. This experiment shows us how the brain puts each word into a category as opposed to remembering the specific word itself.
