Greek music compared to the American Government and Censorship
The First Amendment of the United States Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." Censorship is, and has always has been, a very important issue, not only in American society but the Greek society as well. Music serves many purposes in today’s society as well as it did in the Greeks society; however both censorships have held the primary principle of keeping order among societies, serving as a functional use, operating under the belief that music is capable of generating good and evil, and has the potential of affecting an individuals mood. Although Plato is a part of history, his views and values are still alive and continue to influence the world today. This is shown by the American government’s attempts to conduct censorship in many ways of our society.
