The line at the far end

Eyes dried and jaws dropped, I stay motionless on the coach, engrossed in the flock of the V-shaped wings fading out into the enchanted sunset, a fantasy wrapped in a 21-inched screen. A typical ending scene as they all are, those same birds, their V-shaped wings, and most importantly, how they did actually vanish into the reddish dusky sun were at a time a frustrating bafflement for the poor, desperately inquisitive, five-year-old me.

Of course I could have extricated myself from such a bothersome puzzle just by asking, yet previous experiences with my own similar questions such as “Why does the Moon have to chase me?” or “Why can’t I see my eyes?” didn’t quite seem that asking my parents without expecting obvious jokes in return was a decent choice.
