Applications of Criminology Case Study

There is no set format for the case study. As a general guide I would suggest that you begin by concentrating on a particular crime or crime category, the theories that have been applied to it and explain it, and more importantly, those theories that have informed the practice of Criminal Justice agencies (like the police) in relation to the crime. You can then consider the problems of researching this area of criminality.

Below is an indicative outline of the content of a case study.

Briefly define and introduce the subject area. So, for instance, if you want to look at sex offending you will need to define the main concepts. You may wish to narrow your study to one particular sex offence. You may wish to consider a brief history of our knowledge about and reactions to this form of criminality, the main forms of offending, responses to sex offending (or a particular sex offence) and the difficulties of researching sex offenders.......
