The Civil Rights Movement was a huge accomplishment to the United States. It was from 1955-1968 when the United States focused on eliminating racial discrimination against African Americans. This was mostly a problem in the Southern states. This success was due to Martin Luther King Jr. and the support of the black people, both.
Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to end racism; he had a dream that everyone would be equal. To make his dream come true, he was involved in the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955, funded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, and spoke at the March on Washington in 1963. The Montgomery Bus Boycott started when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person in compliance with the Jim Crow Law. King, along with many other African American’s, was outraged that whites would even be allowed to ask a black to give up his or her seat.
