This article compares and contrasts Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy to Alcoholics Anonymous. REBT emphasizes human power and self growth. It relies on the power of oneself to not drink rather than a higher power. It encompasses many of the same traits as Alcoholics Anonymous, but REBT works on the concept of Rational Recovery. Rational Recovery Therapy puts less emphasis on the A.A. twelfth step of recovering alcoholics helping others due to the irrational tendencies of human nature.
