The Harlem renaissance Period
The Harlem Renaissance was the period between 1920 - 1933, when many African Americans Bloomed. By way of art; in many forms, the African American culture unfolded its petals and emanated the scent of oppression passed and the freedom to now pluck the words from the throats of a once silenced society without fear.
Harlem Renaissance was given its name by Alain Locke, who was a writer, philosopher, educator and patron of arts. He is called the father of the Harlem Renaissance. (Christopher Buck). Reflecting social and intellectual transformations in the black society, it was in a way for most African –Americans to express themselves without being thrown in jail or lynched. Since the days of slavery had finally passed, The Harlem Renaissance came to be known as the period in which certain types of rights could be held by African Americans.
