I lived in the largest city in the state of Nebraska. Railroads in Omaha have been essential for the growth and development of the city. Omaha is the center of the Pacific Railroad, and home of the largest railroad network in the United States known as the Union Pacific. As a resident in Omaha railroads have always been a crucial part of my childhood. I lived in South Omaha, right by the Missouri River, which is where the Union Pacific Headquarters is at.
I will always remember waking up in the morning as a child to the sounds of the loud horns on the trains. The first time I seen a train as a child I was very afraid, because I seen the big heavy train rushing past me and my family’s face, blowing its powerful horn. As it rushed past us my grip on my dad’s pants leg became firm. He peeled my hand away and told me it was alright because the gate was blocking us from the going by the train.
