During act one of A Dolls House, By Henrik Ibsen there is a scene is set, Nora is in her house and Mrs Linde enters. Mrs Linde and Nora are old friends and Nora makes it clear that she is trying to make Mrs Linde envy her by telling her about the events of the past year that involves stories about money and fortune. When the audience first meets Mrs. Linde, she seems to be quite a contrast to the childish Nora. Nora is immature and irresponsible while Mrs. Linde comes across as being intelligent and demure.
Throughout the play Mrs Lindes function is Nora's childhood friend. Kristine Linde is a practical, down-to-earth woman, and her sensible worldview highlights Nora's somewhat childlike outlook on life.
