Marcus Garvey and his Contributions to Better the Life of Oppressed Black in America

Marcus Garvey advocated Black Nationalism and more importantly self-reliance. He was one of the leading Black figures along side with Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., and W.E.B Du Bois. His insistence on black pride is what made him such a predominant leader. In this paper we will review what accomplishments of Garvey, and whether or not he was successful, in his endeavors.
Garvey the founding father of Pan Africanism was born in Saint Ann’s, Jamaica. He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association, and was involved with the African Communities League, and Negro Factories Corporation as well as many more. Marcus Garvey was a Black Nationalist, entrepreneur, and ideal leader. He had innovative ideas, which enabled him to accomplish the largest black movement in history. His different businesses were a gateway to give Blacks more jobs in quantity and in quality not......
