Jacksonian Democrats of the 1820s and 1830s viewed themselves as the guardians of “all things good” in the United States of America. Time and time again they proved their commitment to the betterment of the country. They took a stand against the Central Bank, whose governing board composed of rich aristocrats interested only in their personal fulfillment, thus staking an interest in the wellbeing of America’s working class. Once a member of the working class himself, Jackson geared his policy toward giving the people their well-deserved individual liberties, which had been suppressed under the previous administrative body.
