Should U.S. Immigration Be Limited?
There are many issues with immigration in the U.S. and it’s difficult to really pinpoint what the single most critical issue would be at this time. After reviewing the many articles on the numerous links, I found an issue that stuck out and it’s the impact of new immigrants on young native-born workers. I didn’t realize the trickle effect that has occurred over time and what it has done to the U.S. economy as a whole.
Over a five year period, 4.1 million immigrant workers came to the U.S. that accounted for 86 percent of the net increase in the total number of employed persons (16 and older), the highest share ever in the United States. Of the 4.1 million immigrant workers, between 1.4 and 2.7 million are illegal immigrants. With this many new immigrant workers in the U.S. it caused a decline in employment for 1.7 million young (16 to 34) native-born males and the number of new male immigrant workers increased by 1.9......
