The subculture topic that I have decided to study is prostitution. I want to go into the lives of various prostitutes, as well as define prostitution and explore the history of prostitution. I plan to gain entrance into this society by a friend of my brother. She was once a street prostitute, but now works in a brothel in Nevada. She agreed to allow me to interview her, as well as visit the places she has worked and introduce me to other prostitutes. The reason I decided to explore this subculture is because I’m not only unfamiliar with it, but because I’ve known people who participated in this subculture. While I encountered people from this subculture, I was very young I never really knew the person. I only knew that they were bad people who did terrible things. I just want to explore what I’ve heard such negative things about and get a chance to see things for myself.
