Tony Scott is one of those directors that everyone has seen his work, but few recognize his name. He has directed such films as Top Gun, Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, Spy Game, True Romance, and Déjà vu. In his earlier filmmaking years, he was known for his flashy camerawork, but lately, he has evolved his flashy camera work more so with new digital editing technologies. Top Gun demonstrates his camerawork using lighting effects to set the mood, and really shines with supersonic aerial footage of fighter jets(Stevens). In Man on Fire, every scene is shot from a plethora of angles, and then edited to be very “jumpy”(Brown). The camera work in Man on Fire really changes the movie, and takes it to another level. Also, the filming in Top Gun was completely revolutionary for its time. Tony Scott is always on the cutting edge of camera techniques and technology.
