Hopper/Suciu Painting Essay

The project that we just finished was based on the paintings of Edward Hopper and Suciu. These artists have distinct styles that we were supposed to incorporate into our paintings. The goal of our project was to successfully integrate the styles and techniques of Hopper and Suciu while still making the painting original and in our own style. I feel like I did this successfully and therefore I feel like my painting is a good one. My painting is similar to these artists’ in ways like theme and subject.
The main theme of my painting is loneliness and solidarity. These are similar themes to paintings of Suciu’s “Ghost” and Hopper’s “Nighthawks” and “Compartment C, Car 293.” All of these paintings share common themes similar to mine. The loneliness of the girl in my painting is similar to many paintings of both Suciu’s and Hopper’s. However, there are some differences between my painting......
