Gay marriage should not be treated different from a traditional marriage.
A traditional marriage is between a man and a woman. That is the law in all states. There are people that practice the traditional marriage law and feel it is only for one man and one woman. Traditional marriage has a definition and that is to love, honor, and cherish your partner till death do you part.
A gay marriage is people of the same sex that join as a couple in a non-traditional marriage. This type of marriage is only practiced in California and Massachusetts as of September 2008. All other states do not allow or recognize same sex marriage. Massachusetts became the first state to legalized same sex marriage on May 17, 2004. June 16, 2008, San Francisco, California has domestic partnership certificates that allow same sex partners to have same legal rights as a civil married couple. Same sex marriages are not legal.
